Cookies in a Jar – with free printable label

If you’re looking for a homemade, original present then ‘Cookies in a Jar’ is a good place to start! Not only does your recipient get some delicious cookies, they also get a glass storage jar to keep as well. It’s a really easy and cost effective gift and is perfect for all occasions. Last Christmas we made these as teacher gifts and they went down really well.

This is one of my favourite cookie recipes and I have to stop myself eating all of the raw cookie dough before it gets in the oven! If you would like to make these yourself the recipe is as follows:

1 1/3 (level) cup/ 200g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup/ 100g oats
3/4 cup/ 150g M&Ms
3/4 cup/ 125g semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup/ 75g brown sugar
1/2 cup/ 100g Caster sugar
Mix with 1 egg
1/2 cup/ 125g butter (melted slightly in the microwave)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Roll the dough into ½ inch balls and place on a parchment covered baking sheet for 15 minutes at 180°C.

If you want to make it into a gift jar you’ll need a one litre storage container.

Layer the ingredients:
1. Flour, baking powder and salt
2. Oats
3. M&Ms
4. Chocolate chips
5. Brown sugar
6. Caster sugar

You’ll need to make sure you pack it down tight so it all fits in. Make sure you include an instruction sheet so the recipient knows how to make them!

I have created a free printable label which you could include on your jar. I simply printed mine out on some pretty craft paper but you can also use these round labels which come in a range of colours.
